About a hundred years ago you’d have got up at 6. You would have a small breakfast and donned your overalls, thick shirt, and went to work in a factory, mill, or mine. Or stayed at home to clean and look after the children. The thought of sitting at a desk for 7 to 8 hours a day would have been completely alien to us. One advantage of the old style of work meant that at least we would have been fitter, although our diets were poorer. How do we keep ourselves fit and healthy as sitting down all day can have serious effects on our lives.
First of all, make sure that you have a decent desk. If you don’t then fear not, one can be delivered quickly and with a Next Day Delivery Desks company like the one in the link you won’t have to wait. What else can you do?
- Stretch. Try and do as much stretching as you can. You don’t even need to leave your desk for this. There are plenty available online to choose from.
- Make sure you take breaks preferably away from the desk. If you have a break room or coffee machine go and use it. If you work from home, and an increasing number of us do, then you should leave the home office and go to the kitchen and then sit on your sofa. Ultimately, get away from the work desk.
- If you’ve sat for any length of time namely fifty minutes then you should get up and walk around for about 10 minutes to make up for it.
